Nephrology

Nephrology

Nephrology is a specialty of medicine that studies the kidney function and problems; and involves in the treatment of renal diseases, as it is the chronic renal dysfunction. Systemic conditions that affect the kidneys, such as diabetes and autoimmune disease; and systemic problems that occur as a result of kidney problems, such as renal osteodystrophy and hypertension are also conditions that are studied by the nephrologists.

The Medtourism Group affiliated Nephrology Departments, providing high quality medical care and services, contribute to the comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of patients suffering from kidney diseases including electrolyte disturbances and hypertension, or the care of patients requiring renal replacement therapy, including dialysis and renal transplant patients.

Many diseases affecting the kidney are systemic disorders not limited to the organ itself, and may require special treatment. Examples include acquired conditions such as systemic vasculitis, for instance ANCA vasculitis, and autoimmune diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus, as well as congenital or genetic conditions such as polycystic kidney disease.

Patients are referred to the Medtourism Group affiliated Nephrology Departments and nephrology specialists for various reasons, such as acute renal failure, chronic kidney disease, hematuria, proteinuria, kidney stones, hypertension, and disorders of acid/base or electrolytes.
